seems you have most allready thought out and keep considering that verytricky conversion, it is and can be done. very nice boat btw. looking at the boat a jet on V drive seems a natural, never seen it done but it would get the exhoust firing backwards. most helicopter jets fire sideways tho rite? clutch and gearbox changes but one very intersting little room that may be. dont know the volvo's but merc's sci six drive goes to 1075 hp but at 120 (n?)mph? offshoreonly.com and other forums may be helpfull, i know there are good books and people playing with small turbines, a heli mechanic would be my man. dont get your brains fried with that radar and please keep us informed

There are better and lighter engines than the merc's - try Seatek's light 6thes e.g. 3 x 800 hp. The main problem is the gearbox. Zorya has a perfect Marine gasturbine, not a converted heli-engine, but a real Marine designed development with counterrotating fans so there is no need for a reverse gear. Problem is the proper reduction gear - a clutch is also not necessary, they have an expanding rin-unit that works as a clutch. Joop, I'll mail you a brochure bfore I set off.

I have a cd-rom with all the specs of Zorya on it, tha I will mail you. The only "but" is the fac that the smalest Zorya develops 3600 hp - a bit too much for this bladerinner I believe. Secondly, the reduction gear will be too heavy for this light boat. On the other hand, have a look at the VSV - that is a wavepiercing vessel, I have brought this boat earlier in the Forum's footlight. The first desin,LOA 15 mtr, was equipped with a double Seatek 700hp propulsion in combination with a set of Arneson's SDS drive. Speed was not overwhelming, a good 70 knots only, but the big advantage was that she could perform in almost any seastate.
