Repowering

Hi, I'm repowering my 1986 25'Mako, I can get a great deal on twin counter rotating 225 Suzuki's. They are 2003 models. Weigh 465 lbs each. My transom is in excellent condition. However the boat is only rated for 370HP. Will 80 more HP hurt the boat? Anyone have any experience with slightly over powered boats? Thanks for any info.

Level headed driver? Nothing. Legally in a accident, or spot safety checks, You chose it.

Hey, personally i wouldnt the hulls are rated for a reason unfortunately, you can usually go a few more horsepower but going almost 25% more than the recomended bad idea youll get stress cracks along the hull assuming its fibreglass!. though thinking about it sometimes when they say '225' on the side of the engine it doesnt neccesarly meen 225hp, i did my apprenticeship at Sabre engines in the uk and for example we had a 6 litre 6 culinder m300ti though they were called 300's it was more like 270hp on the dyno bed and if you had two of them you would expect 600hp but you would have more like 540hp get my drift???
