question about Velvet drive transmissions

Looking at 71-b to 71-c. What is the difference? Also, I see on ebay, some velvet drives have a longer snout. Is that extra part what makes them not a 1 to 1 drive. And if you had a longer snout velvet drive can you take that part off and make it a 1 to 1 drive. One last question. Is it easy to change it from a LH to RH? I see that the plate has both RH- LH stamped on it one on top and the other on bottom. I am wondering if unbolting the plate and turning it 180 degrees reverses it direction?

Thanks guys.

Mark
