Thats a bit few information.

Would you mind to give us some more data, i.e. displacement, loa, etc.

Regards
Richard

Now you need a target speed.

Select energy you intend to use.
Only oil or others ?
Do you have a budget for the others, like biogaze, solar panels, wind mill ?
Will you use air buoyancy to lift hull and reduce friction under hill ?
see Brian H. post about it

1500 passengers eating like 2, shitting like 4 (overunity miracle) plus kitchen carbon rubbishes are easily turned into methane. On the hard, or at sea, chemical reaction is the same, and automatic as soon as you close the **** tank.
A real gold mind...deep in the...as we miss it... just like 1000's of other possible solutions.

Do you have 1500 pax on your floating litter bin?

Or any other Yacht?

What are you searching here?
Did the bad guys pee in your sandbox?
No other playground in your suburb?

Have you evaluated your needs in energy for light, heating, equipment

Can this equipment be class A grade like diode for light, PMBL motors instead of exited asynchronous...

Kistinie, Would you let this student work his way through the basic propulsion needs before you start piling all this crap up to his ears?

Diodes are nice, give a lot of light for the weight and energy needed but he is not to that point in this discussion yet.

Diodes was to explain the spirit of my answer
Question was MOTOR
My answer was in motor, magnet or not ?
Between 2x more energy needed

If you do not dream of improving the world you will have to live in, when your 20...
When will you do it ?

Do you think a 2010 student must learn how to install a Cat at tail, a generator at bottom, and lesson is over ?

What does mean "non pulcherrimum et non felicem locum" ?
My Latin is highly corroded
