| help! grinding noise in 4cyl volvo penta we took the boat out this weekend, and we started to get a pretty nasty grinding sound coming from what sounds like the outdrive. the noise is more pronounced when turning, and while moving the trim. the outdrive oil is full and seems to be clean. any idea if this may be? i have the shop manual, and i'm rather mechanically inclined, is there something that i could check for before taking it to a shop? |

| yeh, the outside of the outdrive looks fine. i was reading through my clymer manual and it sounds like it might be the universal joint needing greesing? |

| I sounds like bad u-joints, gimbal bearing or both.
