HDPE liner in fuel tanks? On the subject of removeing leaking fuel tanks, how about a Tank made of HDPE or at least a tank Lined with HDPE? The new Outboard tanks are HDPE. Without an injury, I've never heard of one leaking. So where in the industry is a tank or liner to fix or replace the ones in our old boats? ![]()

Might be impractical to supply drop in tank liners in different shapes and which conform to regulations.. If you need a new tank check these guys out...hundreds of tanks in all shapes supplied to the marine industry. http://www.oceanlinkinc.com/tanks/gas-diesel.htm

HDPE is fine, but you have to be able to weld it up, if you want to make a tank. Plastic welding is fairly easy and heat gun/rod kits are available, though you really got to want to do this, particularly when the commercially obtainable polyethylene tanks are reasonable and non-corrosive.
