Engine swap OMC to Mercruiser 4.3

I am swapping an 1991 OMC out and replacing with a 1999 Mercruiser. They both are 4.3 GM motors. The OEM plug attached to the boat's wiring harness looks exactly the same as the one that comes with the newer motor. They fit perfectly.

Will the wiring be the same?

Wouldn't that make sense?

Or, do they use the same plugs but different elctrical schematic routing. Before I chase down every wire with my meter on the boat and motor I thought someone would know.
