A boat has recently come back on the market that I'm interested in. It has a 33hp Yanmar Saildrive. Are there any owners out there that have experience with these? The boat was built in the mid 80's. Could it be the original unit? I had the impression these were more of an auxiliary than a main. Is a saildrive sturdy enough to be used as a main?

    Thanks in advance,

What's the year, make and model of the yacht in question? Yes, saildrives can be used as primary power.

It's Nathan Smiths "Otter." There is an article from the mid 80's that shows it, but I don't know if it was new then or not.
