Coanda Crazy

Coanda Crazy..........The "Coanda Effect"
http://www.linux-host.org/energy/scoanda.htm

Does this pan out with anyone?
Quote:
This means that the average velocity at any point in the Coanda jet is higher than in a conventional jet at the same distance from the slot. It follows then that the pressure is lower at any comparable distance from the slot and the momentum and mass flow are higher at the same points.
The business plan:

Just like any other impeller?

Many of the useful and intriguing effects of fluid dynamics are quite counter-intuitive, and can only be understood after a great deal of tedious experimentation and mathematical analysis. Turbomachines in particular involve some remarkably complex flow mechanisms that even the most experienced Ph.D engineers still don't fully understand.
As a result, it is very difficult to judge whether a new type of turbine or impeller is actually better than other types, or whether it is in fact utilizing a different means of energy/momentum transfer, without access to the drawings and calculations from which it was designed.
In the case of the above-mentioned Coanda jet- the Coanda effect is quite prominent in air, where most research on it has been done, but air is compressible while water is not. I can't say anything about how the effect would manifest itself in an incompressible fluid.
