4.3l Vs 4.3mpi Mercruiser

I Would Like To Ask All You Out There Some Things.
I've Decided To Buy The Searay 185 Sport And The Standard Engine
Thedealer Gives Here In Greece Is A 4.3l Carb. Mercruiser While If I Want Upgrade To 4.3 Mpi Would Cost Me Another $3500.
What Do You Think Is It Worth It The Diff.?
Cause I've Heard People Saying That The Carb Engines Give You Hard Time To Start While The Mpi System Starts Like The Car.
Is The Difference That Big As They Say.
Is It Worth This Difference $3500?
Please Advise First Time Boater And Need Advice From Experienced Ones.

I think you are buying a brand new boat if the engine is optional ? You do not sound sure of which engine to pick ? First timer should spend the extra money for the much easer starting MPI . It will make all the difference in pleasure if you can afford it . Rich
