Propeller Design.. Need HELP

    Hai all,
    I'm new to propeller design, and my boss give me work to design a propeller for a self propelled barge of L=60m B=12.5m D=3.6m T=2.6m Cb=.907 .
    Need a speed of 7Knots from a engine of CAT C18 ACERT Marine Engine 715 bhp (533 bkW) .
    How do i do it.. does anybody have any excel sheet or pdf...
    please help me..

    i just want to know how to calculate its pitch, radius & number of blades... if you have any pdf or text please give me

    I think the local engine dealer would be best source of info,

    He will know size , weight and better details of how rough the barge construction is.

    I did not want to offend no doubt your ability to learn. I think if you already know the theory and are able to understand an explanation of an issue is because you have studied on it and therefore already have a number of references to books, technical papers, etc. Just because you make a question like that you made me into thinking that you have not studied much about it. Hence my question.

    Are you actually designing the propeller or specifying it? The first means that you will decide the alloy to use, hub size, blade shape, number of blades, etc. The second, you choose from the commercially available propellers and may specify some modifications, like a slight pitch change.

    Do youn think there are "commercially available propellers" for a ship of L=60m B=12.5m D=3.6m T=2.6m Cb=.907 ? . I don't think so.

    Although I know that there are manufacturers of propellers, which also can design as the client, I'm sure that there are no "commercially available propellers", for this ship's size.

    The power is what matters, not the length of the hull. There are many propellers that will absorb 715 HP at 7 kts. I would find the papers for the Gawn-Burrill Series of propellers or the Wageningen B-series and use that data to select optimum diameter and appropriate pitch. The other key factor is the shaft RPM, so the engine rated RPM and gear ratio.

    Whether enough thrust can be generated to push the vessel at 7 kts is another question.

    But you will agree with me that the length, breadth and depth, have some influence on the ideal propeller for the boat.
