I'm working on slow-speed electric propulsion boat.
I have a dismantled jetski and its jet and was thinking I can use the drive shaft, it's rubber coupling, and then why not the impeller too.
I could reshape the impeller if necessary.

What I'm wondering if I just remove the jet nozzle and leave the impeller in the enclosure and run it fully submerged is this going to be too inefficient and a waste of time trying out? I like the safety of the enclosed prop/impeller,
and given a max speed of say 6 knots, the prop shroud may even help?

Seems it isn't that different than these:

These jet ski parts are easy to get, which makes them attractive parts to use.
