Thank-you, Richard. Not classification but US CFR Subchapter "T" (small passenger vessel) which follows ABS. The load is highly variable, can be anywhere from light to full fuel and 14 passengers, two crew, or maybe 7 tons of fish or building materials on deck. The boat has delivered 9,500 liters of water.
No trawling. Top speed, light, 24.2 knots, cruise 18.9 knots. Heavy, 20.2 knots, cruise 16.9, typical. This is with present propeller, which is wrong. It is a .66m Diam. and I can swing .74m at 17% clearance.

    Thats nice setup..
Meantime I have checked about the possibilities sailboats/motorsailers and unfortunately SABB told me "Viser til din forespørsel om HVP25 gearbox, og må dessverre meddele at det ikke er mulig å vende propellen til ”feathering”. " which basicly means the only CPP manufacturer possible for me is West Mekan so I'm stucked with standard gearbox..

Thanks for the post Teddy. I don't think SABB responds to US e-mails, or at least to inquiries from the US about small sailboats. It looks like WM is where we need to go. I'm glad Richard began this post as it has caused me to reconsider the installation of a CPP system.

    Pardon my provincialism apex.

Being an arrogant American I honest to god don't know what a C with 2 little slash marks means. The quote said 13,800 ex works Norway. When I translate Kroner it comes out $3,800. a good value. When I convert Euros it's closer to $29,000.00 a different story.

13.000 € are about 20.000$ today! not 29.000. (maybe tomorrow, who knows)
And how could one expect to get a replacement for a 20k $ system at 3.800$?

    Regards
    Richard

Be that as it may Apex,
We just don't get out much. I personally roam a loop about 5000 miles end to end denominated in dollars, gallons, miles, yards, feet and inches, horsepower and foot pounds, 120volts ac, 4' x 8' 1/2 " plywood, 2 x 4 lumber and board feet (nominal). At the track the ponies run in furlongs. We set the pace and the standards for a long time, now it looks like the Chinese are going to have a crack at it, economically anyway.

    I converted your prices here
    http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi?Amount=20000&From=NOK&To=USD&image.x=36&image.y=10

    13800.00 + 3000.00 =16,800=
    16,800.00 NOK = 2,963.52 USD
    16,800.00 EUR = 24,328.66 USD plus shipping

My prices were wrong on the first post as are yours unless this converter is wrong.

"And how could one expect to get a replacement for a 20k $ system at 3.800$?"

No Apex I would expect to pay around 20 to 25 thousand for a $24,000.00
system NOW THAT I FINALLY HAVE AN IDEA HOW MUCH IT MIGHT COST.

While I can readily see the advantages of a CPP system it is sobering to compare the price of a new CPP unit capable of handling 300-500 hp with a replacement borg warner velvet drive such as I now have. I fully understand that I would have to compare the velvet drive along with a shaft and wheel to be comparing apples to apples. I wonder what the price of used gear might be?

http://www.finn.no/finn/boat/object?finnkode=19781388 This is old announcement but in this site they have some units for sale time to time, smaller ones like this almost constantly. They got prices in NOK and the site in Norvegian so.. CPP is called Vribar propell.. 25000 NOK is about $4400 or 3050€
