Cavitation check for propeller

How can i check cavitation for my propeller.... if this does not meet then what can i do??

 

Are you calculating a propeller or is it an existing installation?

 

If you need to know whether the prop is enduring some or a lot of cavitation, then examine it carefully, maybe even with a magnifier glass. Cavitation, if excessive, will cause surface pitting. If the prop looks like it has been sandblasted in some areas, then you have either been running into sand bars or you have some cavitation.

 

Sand the prop smooth and paint with a thin coat of primer. Run the boat across a full range of conditions for several minutes, then inspect the prop's painted surface. Cavitation will be obvious.

 

Any trouble from your prop should be reasonably obvious in some way such as poor expected performance,vibration, noise of some sort, over revving intermittently and not getting on to plane quickly. Why should you think there may be cavitation,or more likely air entrainment?

 

Don't panic ! Probably helps if you provide these helpful gentlemen with more detail of what this prop is, and what kind of boat it is on.
