nautical mooring thesis

Hi!!

A Civil Engineering (Hydraulic) Professor proposed me a thesis related to nautical moorings ( block anchor). (water 15 metres depht)
He said that there is a gap in the rules because is a terrain between naval and civil.
There is a mooring matlab freeware interesting to use, but is for deep water mooring, so for more sofisticated moorings.
Do you think that it is an interesting thesis or is too semplicistic for the naval world used to solve offshore mooring-problems??
The Professor said that the difficulties are related to adjust the rules..
He told me that this work needs 6-7 months..
