A high efficient yacht Hi everyone, I hope I am in the right part of the forum to present my project. I only need comments about the design. And if anyone is interested in critisizing my boat, I ll enjoy to send some other specification about the yacht. => http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16wFvRBNHqk Thank you ![]()

I'm not sure how you get your efficiency, but your beam length ratio, projected speeds and HP requirement estimates don't sound particularly efficient.

| Can we define "efficiency" so that it can be generally understood. Perhaps not and certainly not if this boat is to be considered efficient.

Efficiency = Sailboat, so far. unless you mean something else than energy efficiency that is. consider a sailor: running cost is about 100% efficiency!

Lat say 65 gallons/hours, meaning $195 an hour, meaning $1950 of fuel per weekend, meaning a lot of money for a week end. I don't think talking "efficiency" is the right term, since what ever is the hull, the credit card take the same hit ![]() By the way, no offence, but what is it with this new trend to talk "efficiency" by presenting rendering with hull done, re-done, re-re-done and re-re-re-done? 1200 hp, is 1200 hp, 40 knots is 40 knots. Be honest, don't talk "efficiency" just ask: Do you like my drawing ? ![]() Daniel

This is one of the "foils in the gap" cats that have surfaced in recent years. Many claims, though this appears just a promotional teaser, nothing of substance offered yet. Considering the original post is several months old, possibly indicative of . . .

still so, even if the voyage time is reduced, the engergy savings would be decreased by the need to lift the boat, so unless the boat is extremly light (and therefore expensive) it would need to be extremly small, thus probably making any energy savings null.
