I agree. My answer will be user friendly.
I am using both programs, but it is hard to change something in Rhino you need program language skills - even with Grasshopper.
Also all the students have their programs in Excel, not in Grasshoopper. Which can easily find relationships...
Still data requirements given from Registers is usually emperical or analitycal formulations, therefore you need something pure calculation, after choosing right one solution you can draw it, in Acad and import 2d drawing in rhino to make 3d hull it is far more easy. Than to input all formulations from register in program language (grasshopper) and let it find optimum from multiparametric optimization. Still needs programmers. Most of this is also that input controlling parameters with dependence of the results, should be seen and interactive as remote control so the user can understand the relationships. The best is this all to happen in 3D hull program like Rhino, and to be parametric, and to respect the rules of BV for example for particular case inland vessels, and open for all not commercial, but...still waiting. Now the world have commercial softs for optimization like Flowtech Shipflow, ModeFrontier, and direct analytically softs like Ansys, Starccm, and rules which should be respected, but still waiting for the mix. Even more still waiting for opensource mix, for particular vessel types... Until then - Autocad and Excel

For the other you just need to know Autocad and Excel and to be Naval architect not programmer.

Off course if you want parametric hull u can use more sophisticated tools.

But.
This was for modeling 1 thing... But lets say we want to make variation here Rhino lacks ability so you need to delete change curves make new shape which Grasshopper improves (with sliders and a bit of programming). Ok same Holland Guy named Gerard Petersen with his very smart friends made automated grasshopper hull form deformation by sliders script https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgdiq4kfsaw that can be downloaded here: http://rhinocentre.blogspot.bg/ for free.

But still new shape, make same script (first learn and understand it make control curves for hull shape deformation). Can we be better?

Lets speak a bit for hull form optimization:
Here is continuation so now there is free German software called
Caeses, which changes the game. Well very smart guy again prof. Stefan Harris. You can download and learn free version here: https://www.caeses.com/products/caeses-free/

Ok so what this software can do? that Rhino can't?
It can do parametrize Nurbs Modeling so you can
Create Variable Geometry (different boat shapes) varing by some deformation etc (from curves).

So lets see we started my thinking with lets optimize a simple boat which is made in Rhino. We put in software. Than from software to make different shapes and to go to CFD soft like Starccm there we take pressure results and use back in same soft Caeses to deform the shape (now we are discussing how) maybe by curves or FFD (box deformation like cage command in Rhino) but best is to use the pressure vectore and magnitude value for x,y,z, coordinates given by CFD soft, so to deform the shape (logic where is most pressure, deform more.( and with slider to choose how much as multiplier, so Naval Architect) can choose the amount of (trade of) optimization he wants from initial shape. Here also you can use Caeses (not free) optimizer or Mode frontier (commercial soft) or Dakota (free optimizer) if you want mathematically to recieve best trade of shape but this is still in future So follow the threat
