Yes that was me in the video with my dog Flash 15 years ago with my 3rd prototype folding barge that worked well as it weighed 800 kg in folded trailer form and easy to tow on narrow remote roads at .800 wide when folded yet 3.6 unfolded.
It could have done with another .100mm freeboard when floating 4000kg in rough weather.
You may of seen it planning easily unloaded with two 15 hp four strokes outboards and one 15 hp to push it along with camper van on top, good on gas.
It’s a good feeling to be able to drive on the road then come to sea, river or lake and keep going in luxury, especially in remote areas.
Recently I designed and made in China a http://www.boatdesign.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/22025/cat/all/limit/last7 with a titanium torsions suspension http://www.boatdesign.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/21963/cat/500/ppuser/49990 that can have the rubber cords DIY replaced which was to research the possibility to manufacture the folding trailer barges further so they can be affordable to purchase.
My next design folding trailer barge are lighter and lower in height when folded but at a sacrifice of the shallow draft which is trying to make an average car amphibious that can self-drive the folding pontoon structure with the vehicles own power including larger models for campervans.
Next step is to design the system to adapt the shaft driven wheels such as hydraulics, rollers or a simple shaft slipped into the hubs diverted down to a similar system like an outboard motor legs.
For example for the car model can be driven by a front wheel drive system that also steers the out board leg propulsion.
The key to success is to be able to unfold the pontoon in less than 5 minutes and be able to power away with the vehicle driving the power system and most of all it is affordable, say $10.000 purchase price.
I look at the extras a car has such as air conditioning, heating, lights, window wipers, stereo, suspension and comfortable seating and the power to drive the pontoon should be taken advantage off.
If one had the cash to spend on performance system it can plan and be a far lower cost than what’s on the market and the advantage is you can walk around the vehicle while on water and saltwater does not get into the vehicle components.

Thanks for tips and questions. I live in vancover B.C. so the vehicle only has to registered as proto type, and can be sold in canada as a kit in any stage of completion. the vehicle would be assessed and aproved by licenced mechanic to get registation and insurance. not sure about U.S. but think it could be exported as a kit. many hot rod kits and proto types out there.I intend to take photos of progress. I would like to find help to have lofted scrieve scaled down and wire framed on cad.and have a artist sketch made of the finished vehicle. i have 1/4 and 1/2 scale lines plans and full size offsets and lines plan scrieve.

hello curious; i have not attemptd to send photos but here goes. i am a techno peasant so have difficulty down sizing photo pickcels for emailing.all i have is a model and sketches. the frame and bottom shell ,with differential and steering are installed (no photos) what do you know it worked!WHAT AM I DOING?? usually i am seecretive about my boatbuiding due to poor results on proto type last effort that was done worked ,but looked amatuer. A friend first contacted me twenty years ago because we had similar ideas at that time developing an amphibious vehicle just like you are now.
He got me work on the same job as him which was an extension of a steel mill shut down working twelve hours, seven days a week and no days off over four months as a boilermaker.
I have attached pictures of his invention at the time we met.
back then Terry went to an invention competition at the Auckland annual show and displayed his idea and when they started to read the winners backwards Terry thought his name would be read out in the end but it was not and a lady that invited a purse that was hard to steal from won.
Anyhow Terry kept up his spirit looking for an investor and never gave up his patent pending and then one day a helicopter landed on his property and a guy call Allan Gibbs stepped out and offered to buy his patents and develop the idea and wanted Terry as part of the package.
His dream was not about money but the challenge to see the idea completed.
I also see you like old cars so I have given a link about Terry’s father who collected cars.

Myark; thanks for article on amphibious car. i have seen several proto types on web sites. i have though of this for quite a few years,but needed solutions to design of mechanics and seals etc.this will take time ,material and effort, but i am a workaholic anyway, and go restless unless i have somethink to daydream aboutand tinker with,but LIFE IS WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU<WHEN YOUR TRYING TO DO YOUR OWN THING>

i like your barge, great idea , but i think your drive ideas will complicate the simplicity of the current design, outboards are so reliable and efficient why not stick with them. maybe a canvas shelter and seat for the skipper.

Yes it’s a lot better not to be complicated as this small ABC model which tows open or shut and has a tent on top for multi-function use also it has 4 hatches in the deck if you can look closely at the picture of the Suzuki on top of deck you will see the 4 sealed hatches near each wheel with a draining system.
This is to place camping and boating equipment into similar to a suitcase which folds up for security.

Without the car on top it plans with a 10 hp outboard and when folded the outboard is neatly stowed in the back well area neatly tucked away out of harm’s way.
If not in a hurry it’s good to have the car on top like this 4 wheel drive Suzuki that provides comfort also no doubling back if cruising down river or along coast lines and lakes...
You are correct about the complications with other drive systems and are my next challenge to invent and solve an affordable that can be assembled within minutes and drive away with the power of the smaller cars propelling the barge.
This is one of the reasons I have to develop in China because of the cost and time to machine parts while developing as everything will be made from scratch, the other problems is end cost so again in China I believe I can solve the cost to manufacture redirecting drives from the wheels for the fraction of the price of outboard motor which should be good on the gas as the motor has a lot of HP and only some is needed.
The folding barge I use for this model is a light catamaran shape pontoon.

I have only the old style camera pictures off the folding Myark trailer barges which you can see the many models if you go to my photo album on boat design.

I have the small Myark box trailer pictured I just created and designed with removable titanium suspension also has titanium hubs and axles that are taken with a digital camera.
I designed the trailer to be an illusion so it does not look like a boat but actually is a boat if wanted as well it is light enough to stand up on its side or end to save garage space,
Later when have time I will place a 15 hp outboard on trailer which will travel fast because the wheels are easily removed also has a slight rise on the front and back bottom so it rocks up and back end rides level with the water surface.

Hello: I am a new member and hope to chat and exchange ideas for my project. i have started to fabricate an aluminium sea sled hull of 20ft. x 8ft.jet powered with v8 power ,rear wheel drive, with shift options to jet or drive wheels. no photos as yet. hope to maket as a design or hull kit. still not sure if air will get into jetdrive intake? how to know?will a 3 degree rocker bottom with a 6 degree v rise of floor be to extreme? by the way it is amphibious.
