We are pleased to announce our November SNAME Technical Session, to be held November 15, 2004 at the Eastport Yacht Club in Annapolis.
The Chesapeake Section will be welcoming a panel of experts to lead a discussion on the "Tips, Tricks, and Trips in Inclining Experiments"
Panel: Chris Barry, Tom Waters, George Borlase, and other experienced, practicing Naval Architects

Abstract: SNAME Panel SD-3 is preparing a supplement to ASTM F1321 that gives non-binding practical information for conducting stability tests. Eventually the collective wisdom of SNAME members on what to do, what to bring, and what to watch out for will be collected into a T&R publication, and this meeting is the beginning of the collection process. The meeting will be a panel with several presenters giving their ideas and experiences, followed by a wide discussion getting the thoughts of those attending.

The panel discussion is going to include issues relating to smaller vessels, equipment and tools to make the process work better, weights, weight moving devices, special techniques for special circumstances, use of ANOVA techniques to improve accuracy, sample electronic spreadsheets and Word templates, inclining small craft in air, and especially things not to do learned the hard way.

This is a meeting with a very different format, and a unique opportunity to exchange your "war stories" on this subject and to hear those of others.
