Because no one cares if the sanctioning body isn't respected outside the country. world wide standards have to be set. otherwise i might just produce a sanctioning body, farm it some good reputation and then make my own world record.

Yes, I understand all that but are you saying you would value it more if it is in France (or wherever it is) than if it is in the US, or is there a competing US organization that is not meeting your approval, or what? It sounds like an anti-US rant, please explain what the problem is.

I wonder why there is a debate about the French?

The FIA = Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile

The FIFA = Fédération Internationale de Football Association

And several other international bodies in the sports world have French names.
More or less all these activities started in Europe, so thats no wonder, is it?

Sigh! It's not, it was about the US, but forget it I am obviously not going to get an honest answer to my question here. This how it started ...

no, i'm saying the french was first to be approved. You're missing the point, the govering body isnt international just because it's french. It's not about meeting my appoval, its about meeting everyones approval. so if you want a world record speed, you'll have to set it in a way that is respected by all. matter of fact is that this seems to be more of a pro-american rant to me.

It could be in Lichtenstein or whatever if you asks me, i wouldnt care, as long as it worked.

Why dont you just say you have a US record and everybody will agree
( assuming your sanctioning body is actually recognised country wide if not then I guess its a state record?)

The first post seemed disctinctly anti-american. I asked why, and now you have finally provided the answer - thank you!

None of my posts are pro-american, and there is no need to try to make me look bad either; this is not politics and we are not running against each other in a US election

well, in that case forgive me. but i thought the first question was completley valid - a world record needs to be set along worldwide standards.
