What was the nature of the failure? Did the boat hit something or was it a failure of the hull?

A repair made at an earlier time had let go in the front of the sponson. Water pressure at 120mph+ did the rest.....

What's the purpose of these images and just what is it you would like to make as your point?

Sorry as hell for the bad luck, but isn't this just an example of what racing has to offer? You go fast, you destroy equipment, you post photos of commercial enterprise, we all feel bad, etc.

What is the lesson here, where is the written material to support you position, just who did the repair that you blame for the failure and lastly, what's the real problem here?... The boat made it to shore, nobody got hurt and a bunch of nice folks helped you drag the bad boy off the beach.

Help us out here.

With being a boat builder's forum, I am sure many people here would do the same with a boat wreck.

I shot the photos and I thought I would share them.

I personally am not blaming anyone. I only repeated what the crew from the boat had suspected what the cause may have been. I have no knowledge of who did the repair nor the size of it.
The boat has been on the circuit for many years and over time, the hull becomes fatigued.

There is no intent of commercial enterprise. If this post holds no interest to anyone here then by all means let the administrator pull it.

No different than if a boat was christened the wrong way.....

Sharkey - thanks for posting the launch disaster shots in yout last post. I reveived them as an email the other day. I wasn't convinced they were real, but the extra couple you posted certainly add wait to their authenticity

Just for the record,

Yes, I was all over this boat from day into night back into day like the paparazzi following Britney Spears.

The difference is that I was documenting history. But besides that, I saw the look in the owner's face when people were taking photos of the boat with camera phones, video recorders you name it. He saw me and said, "Good photo opportunity for you, eh?" I could hear in his voice that maybe he may not have wanted it this way, but there was no way to stop it.
I continued on photographing but it was on my mind all night whether to bring the photos online.

So I went to meet him in the morning to ask his permission to use the photos online and he said go ahead. If he had said no, then I would have left them on my hard drive.

A few minutes later he got a call from a fiberglass repairman in Florida that wanted to give him a quote on the repair of the hull. Next thing was he had asked for me to get as many shots as needed from inside to outside so that this person can give an honest estimate of the damage and what it would cost to make the repair.

I got the call the next day from the repairman and it was just what he needed and appreciated the detailed photos.

You just never know when you may have captured an image in time that would be needed later on. This was one of those times.

On another note, the rescue divers have asked me to forward photos I have taken. They have used them in past presentations with their dive team's training.
One example they are using today is when I shot the race boat LOAN SHARK in St Clair, Michigan last year. The boat had rolled over in a turn during the race. They use those photos in their training.

Keep in mind, I shot those photos from over 1/2 a mile away. But the response time of the divers was documented by my photo timing in sequence and the video.

Although obviously not the case here, I sometimes wonder if the photographers helicopter doesn't effect the boats handling. It seems they are sometimes way to close to a boat that is operating on the edge and if the downdraft is not effecting the boat in the cameras frame, close competetors might be effected.? Sam
