What make of boat is this?

Hi all,
I purchased this ski boat 5 years ago. The registration papers state that it is made by "Performance Craft". There is little information on this make. I have just spotted a boat of similar design that was labelled "Nankervis". The hull has a distinctive cross member just behind the drivers seat. Can anyone shed some light on the manufactures, age and or history of these boats types?
Thanking you in advance.
Grumpy

What are the first 3 digits of the HIN, which is located on the top right side of the transom? These 3 letters are the manufacture's prefix and can be looked up on the USCG web site.

I suspect yours is one of three possible manufactures (again check the HIN):
CPA - which identifies Carrera Performance Craft
MPR - which is the HIN for Minature Performance Craft
SQE - or Scarab Performance Craft

That may be a Carrera, but the HIN will tell all. Carrera is dead as far as I know. What year is given for the boat? Model?

I think it's an old Lewis, back when their first fibreglass boats were just moulds flopped off their clinker plywood hulls.

Regards, Andrew.

according to http://www.boatingwa.com.au/boatcode.htm the manufacturer code is "WWA" but your HIN doesn't seem to match the way your HIN is supposed to be laid out

Thanks but a little bit of research of the HIN. I have only been able to identify that the HIN was attached some time after the hull was manufactured. WWA is a generic code. I am still no closer to identifying the manufacturing of this hull. SAD

The WWA prefix is a state supplied HIN and indicates a home built boat.

It's the same as the "Z" prefix in this country. A home built here will have the manufacture's prefix area starting with a Z then the state of first registration (the supplier of the HIN) two digit code. So, a Florida made home built would carry the ZFL manufacture's prefix, Z meaning it's home built and the FL as the state designation.

WWA doesn't mean home made, it means manufacturer unknown/ no longer in business. WWA stands for Waterways Authority, as in inspected by said authority.
I know this because I have a 13ft fibreglass Steber in the backyard with the WWA prefix:

As I said, the yellow skiboat is a flop off an old Lewis clinker inboard. I've seen a few of them through the years. The original plywood boats had a full width bulkhead behind the front seats, engine completely decked in, then a set of rear seats.
