Wellcraft Nova Spyder 23' outboard conversion

Hi

my name is Pambos and i'm from Cyprus, i'm 25.

i 'm planning is to close the cut for the inboard engine and modify the rear to accept an outboard 250hp engine like the evinrude etec

below are the boat specs

I think that you would be better off looking for a boat designed for a outboard.

You will change the C of G of the boat which may lead to porpoising when at speed. The deck layout will also change which may give you more cockpit space.

this was suggested to me by a boat builder, i'm not going to do it myself

so your thoughts are better find an inboard engine to fit it

Pambs - did you pursue this?

This summer I spent so much time playing with sterndrives that as a "practical" solution I did consider for a moment fitting a friend's pair of 250 bluewater mercs to my nova 26 ST, redoing the transom, adding knees, moving the rear bench back a bit... but I ended up sticking with IOs for now and didn't pursue the idea very far. I am curious however if you did.

I assume he has moved on... 2006...?

Didn't notice the date at first glance....

However the total merc installation (454) as mentioned in the first attached paper, will probably be close to 500 kgs? (Wild guess).
An Evinrude 250 E-tec weigh about 230-240 kgs, so even placed longer aft, It could work....

But "What can go wrong?"
Ehhhrhhhh; "what could easily go right?" may even be a better question....
