volvo penta 290 duo prop

    hi new to site on behalf of a friend does any one know how to take of the 2nd prop on a 290a duo prop?

    You hit it with something big and heavy, like an axe or a maul. Then you unbolt the drive and replace it.

    But seriously.... there should be a nut and cotterpin tucked deep inside the hub there?

    hub

    hubs already off but cant get 2nd prop off, got no manual, cheers

    If it is seized, you may have to cut it out. The service calls for R&R with the 100 hour service for that reason. If the second nut is off and you use the boat in salt water, it is most likely corroded in place. Try heating it up and using a puller before radical surgery.

    Hi have you managed to remove?
    If not hire a bearing puller this is two flat plates that act as a clamp and then you can then pull prop off.

    good luck and as always soak if poss in freeing fluid.
    I have been told to use vinegar but have not tried it!
