| Sterndrive stability I'm new to these forums, so first off, hello all. I am currently studying my final year of an Engineering degree and I am involved in a project that I have to complete as part of my course. It's not creating a boat, however it is based around motorboats and to be more specific sterndrive boats up to around 25-feet long, and may effect the stability of such a vessel. One thing that I need of major importance is maximum safe tilting angles of these vessels to port, starboard, forward and aft, or how to work them out. Evidence (e.g. tables or guides) of this would also be very helpful. Any other information on stability would also be of great help. Many thanks. |

| Every design behaves differently. Are you trying to make a universal rule?

| What class of boats are you looking at? Sterndrives are used in everything from cottage bowriders to houseboats to racers, it's kind of hard to generalize from the given information.

| For an idea you may want to get a copy of ISO 12217. It is stability criteria for recreational boats. |
