Seeking 30'-35' power boat, shallow, enclosed pilothouse, family comfort We have very young children and would be more comfortable cruising the Chesapeake Bay with an enclosed pilothouse (hard back with locking door). Slip and lift will limt us to 30 to 32" inch draft and beam up to 13 feet. Desire 20 to 30 knots top speed, the larger the better, comfortable for overnights with generator and A/C, kitchenette, head (seperate shower preferable), 6'2" clearance underneath, forward berth for my wife and me and room for 3 kids, built more for comfort than fishing. Inboard, outboard or I/O - we are indifferent. Parkers look OK, but more tuned to fishing. The Mainship boats look good as well, but they don't seem to be offered with an enclosed pilothouse. If you know of a boat that fits, please advise. New or used. Greg

The draft is a tough one. A water jet will do it as well as hit the speed mark but you are talking more $$$$. Twin outboards would draw less than a single. Have fun!

I'm building this stretched to 30'-6" and it offers a max beam of 11'. 14" draft. It will have a full hard cabin with kitchen, full bath, forward berth with queen bed and a 6' long covered rear deck. I like cats because they offer a stable platform. More info if you want it regarding engines, ect.https://www.boatdesigns.com/products.asp?dept=722

Hello Greg, are you going to build or to buy? Ah, sorry, the latter is the case, please look at my Gallery (click my name), if there´s something that attracts you, Let me know. I have a 34´ Lobsterboat with a 32 inch draft, that can be powered up to 30 knots. And we custom build only, so your demand should be within our abilities. Regards Richard ![]()

Greg: If having a boat built to your specs is an option for you, you really should not rule out wood/epoxy boats such as the boats Apex referred you to. It's a terrific building technique that offers aesthetic possibilities that are not inherent in other methods. I too am a custom shop (in Ohio) and several designs come to mind that may satisfy your needs. I'd be happy to discuss them with you. Please email at the address below.
