A question about a scarab.......

I have the chance to buy a 21 foot scarab on a nice trailer for very cheap(owner bought it for the powerplant). It has no motor or outdrive. I have an chaparral 1830 ss with a 3litre yamaha(gm 4 cylinder) and outdrive that runs great but the hull is shot.... You know what i am getting at. I know it wouldnt be the fastest boat on earth but do you think this 140 hp drivetrain would plane the scarab out and push it maybe into the mid 30's? Any ideas???
