Planing trimarans

There are few small cruising trimarans but many more catamarans. Why is this so? Are there any cruising trimarans with a planning central hull?

Call Noahs marine supply out of canada (416) 232-0522. One of the "older male salesman" has a cruising tri. I forgot his name. He is quite passionate about it, so maybe he could help.
