outboard kicker placement

Can I mount a hi-thrust 8hp OB with cavitation plate 14" below waterline but 10" above bottom of hull? Boat is a heavy 25' I/O with modified V hull. Outboard prop would be about 24" back from the transom. I have been repeatedly quoted the rule of 2" up for every foot back from transom, but doesn't this apply to larger OB's for planing?

The thing is that you want to avoid obstructing the suction side of the prop, planing or otherwise. If you don't your propulsive efficiency goes way down and your engine experiences abnormal wear from the loading. Use the rule, It'll save your kicker, and make you quicker.
