Noob to boats for the most part -w 1948 Western Fairliner 26ft Deluxe Express Cruiser

I recently acquired my fathers old cabin cruiser and am pretty new to renovating classic boats. Although am old hand at dealing with cars. I know this site is mostly about the design and such but, figured it would be a great place to learn something about this old gal. She is a 1948 Western Fairliner 26ft Deluxe Express Cruiser. I know it's powered by a Chrysler straight six. I know it was manufactured in Tacoma by Western Boat Building Co. but know little beyond the fact is I havn't seen another cabin cruiser like her. She had a fight with some thin ice back in '91 and hasn't floated since. Any help I could get would be very much appreciated and have my heart set on bringing her back to her former beauty. I was 8 years old when my dad bought her and have many a fond memory cruising Cda lake in northern id.

Congratulations on the new boat. It must be nice to have a family boat to restore.

I would say to start one needs to get a realistic assessment of the boat's condition.
Older boats can have problems with their timbers, fasteners and planking. It is required that the condition of these structural basics are known and returned as required to serviceable condition.

Get a experienced hand to look the boat over so that you have a full ideal of the boats condition and can proceed in a logical manner through her restoration.

It does little good to polish the brass when she is near to springing a plank from a rotten butt block.
