New Vicious Custom Boats 18' STS begins production

Vicious Custom Boats and Infusion Marine LLC. Have teamed up to build a new Super Twin Step (STS) 18' powerboat. The hull mold is complete as well as hull number one. We are in the process of finishing the deck plug and wanted to share some photos of the build process. The first boat that you will see in the photos is wet bagged and fully cored with vinyl ester resin. The production boats will all be 100% foam cored and vacume infused with vinyl ester or epoxy resin.

more core is being cut, bottom is 1/2 inch balsa and the rest is 1/4inch 5lb foam.

Looks like a Splashed Mirage Hull with a couple sof steps now in the hull...

 

here is the plug boat, it was not a copy of a mirage. Although we did start with a real boat and put thousands of man hours changing the bottom before making the mold.

 

So what is your projected estimate as far as weight goes for the whole boat ? L@@king good .

 

an infused hull and deck, glass and bonded together should be in the 450lbs range.

Just curious what resin are you using and might it be 6000 OR a mixed bag ?

 

the resin for this boat is hydrex 100

deck gets glassed in and outside all the way around. We are going to build a mold from this deck once it fits. There I a ton of filling and fairing to come.

Hey guy , not to be rude but the lay up in the motor area is so sloppy and the core blukheads are they just tabbed in :?:

 

the bulkheads are bonded and then glassed into place. We rushed the glassing of the rear bulkhead so we could get the deck on to begin the mold. I agree it could have been nicer but you will never see that with the deck on. Anything you see or touch gets sanded, primed and painted with awlgrip.
