Mariah leaks I have a 1992 24ft Mariah. The boat takes on water in the engine hull. Have pulled the engine, checked seals on lower unit and all is well yet still takes on water. Have filled boat with water up to floor with plug in and no water leaks out. Yet when we put boat pack in water (without engine reinstalled) water seems to be oozing in but don't know where. Any thoughts to finding and repair this unknown leak??

Oops. I clicked on this thread thinking it would be a link to dirty golden shower pr0n. I know nothing about boats, but if I were looking for a leak within an enclosed space, I would coat the interior space with a very fine dusting of powder and then dip it in the water and look for where the powder turns wet. Same idea, I guess, as doing a dye penetrant inspection, only using water. Of course, now some smart old-timer is going to come by and tell you the logical way to do it that actually works on boats. ![]()

What sort of material is a Mariah made from? I have heard that some materials pit, I think aluminium can, that tapers from the outside to the inside. Cone shaped. Water can travel through the pitted hole from the outside but closes up with the pressure of the water when the boat is filled. I would guess drying the inside of the boat put it in the drink and watch it.
