Ferrari Arno XI hydroplane at auction

Gentlemen, please allow me to introduce a racing machine which imho blends art and engineering into a perfect harmony of beauty and power - the Ferrari Arno XI Hydroplane. Oh please please look at those pics! :)

This beauty has been holding the world speed record in the 800-kg class of powerboats for the last 59 years! The WR was attained on 15th October, 1953 on Lake Iseo (Italy), when her owner Achille Castoldi pushed her to an average speed (in two runs) of 241.71 km/h (150.19 mph) over the measured kilometer.

She will be at auction in Monaco in may: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2103831/Ferrari-powerboat-set-fetch-1-5m-auction.html . More technical info here: http://www.vivaf1.com/blog/?p=5267

And now the best part... (pics from Daily Mail Online):

If I was Ferrari , I would buy it for promotions. Put it on a trailer and a couple of cute Italian girls and everyone would be looking at the big F, and not Miss Geico.

    Couldn't agree more. :)

Each time I look at these lines, materials, colors, textures, details on this beautiful object, I am simply amazed by the heights of the craftsmanship reached by the people who have made it. It is one of the most inspirational designs I have had a chance to admire. :)
