If you can post a picture I can tell you for sure if it's an SBC. Does it have the round exhaust manifold logs?

Nope, I'm sorry. It's too big for that... It's a 1973 Imp Marine Inca Cuddy Cabin

Does it have electric trim? I don't mean tilt, I mean the trim that raises the front of the entire engine.

Is the block in the engine cracked? Is it a rebuildable core? Yiou can have a Chevy marine 350 rebuilt for as low as $1100. You will either have to rebuild your carb for $30 - $50, or if it has been sitting a very long time you will probably need a new or rebuilt carb. You can get those on ebay for $250 - $300. There is a good chance that the tilt motor has gone out if the outdrive has been sitting for a while. Those can be had for $50 - $150 on ebay, or if you are really good you can try taking the tilt motor apart and cleaning it up. If you want to get by with a dirt cheap solution you could find a running pre 1987 Chevy 305 or 350, change over the camshaft and marine accessories and hope for the best. Just remember that the IMP Inca is a very heavy boat. Any motor that is put in there will be under very heavy loads at all times. A rebuilt marine engine is a sure bet.

Do you have a method to R&R the engine yourself?

I agree. By R&R I meant do you have a safe engine hoist available.

Just snapped a few pictures of the '84 a couple of days ago. Thought I'd share the carnage These are kind of mid-rebuild. This is actually better than when I first bought it, but gives a pretty accurate description of exactly what I mean when I say "much needed work" ![]() On a high note, we took it out yesterday after my buddy rebuilt the carb and she's running great right now. We even got some tubing and wakeboarding in! It's getting up to 40+ pretty easy but that's rapped out, so we've got a little motor work to do, but all in all, I'm pretty impressed! She'll be great for labor day weekend ![]() Aah, and she's got a name: "Always 5:00 Here" (And we named the trailer too... Aquahaul )

Wow...almost a carbon copy of mine...except for the bowrider part where mine is a cuddy. Same dash layout, same cushion design, same rear seat..I think, same motor, even the whaletail! My upholstry had already been redone by the previousl owner (or the one previous to him), and is in pretty good shape, except for a couple of spots where the rats chewed. Anyway, good luck with it, and looking forward to seeing your progress.

Help Identifying my IMP I own a 20 foot 1969 IMP. At one time it hard a hard top and does not have a walk thru. It has a Chevy 302 that appears to be original. Does anyone know the make of this boat. The hardtop has since been removed. It has windshield wipers and raised rails around the front and rear of the boat. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
