I will get some pics tomorrow and post them. The hull is very sound. All the rot that it got was from the sun... ARIZONA. So it is side panels and seats and I should be good. I fired it up and it runs great. I just was wondering .. when it is running there is a whining noise from the upper portion of the outdrive just behind the motor. Not loud. Kind of like a quieter gear drive on a small block chevy would sound. Normal?

Thanks

dpenn1 sorry i am resonding to your trailer question so late. i havent been on the site in quite awhile. i gave up trying to find somebody with a similar boat as mine. last spring 4-08 i bought a1987 IMP 245 fish that was in very nice shape. but had a blown head gasket.motor is a 260 merc. with alpha 1 drive.the boat was never docked used very little, and had never been bottom painted. since i would be leaving it in the water and had to sand and bottom paint. i was able to take a good look at the hull. these boats seem to have excellent glass work and built very strong.so i dought very highly the trailer was the problem. my boat came on a tandem axle float on trailer and did not seem to have affected the hull in any way. i am curious if possibly the boat may have struck alog or floating debris at some point in its life and thats where the problem started. but anyway its good to have found somebody with pretty much the same boatand it seems you did an excellent job on yours. i am curious if you were able to find any info. on yours, like owners manual etc... as i have none and havent been able to find anything or even someone with the same boat. anything you can pass on would be appreciated. i am in the cleve. ohio area and do alot of yellow perch and walleye fishing on lake erie. have had the boat out in 6 to 8 ft. waves and it handles great. thanks bills245 fish hschultz61227@roadrunner.com

pdave1s-

Sounds Good. I took it out this afternoon..It was 48 out, with a south wind of 25 with gusts up to 33. The boat handled well, even though I was freezing....It was well worth. I've gotta few Interior items to fix up (molding) and then I'm going to install a stereo. I collect Mark Twain's, but I've thought about collecting these as well.

I am currently fixing up a 1988 IMP 270 Liberty. The boat has twin 3.7LXs that the previous owner siezed up. I bought two used motors, will be swapping intakes, carbs, and some other odds and ends before dropping them in. The cabin will be redone as well, and the boat should be in the water come spring/summer time!

I thought it was a rare find, so I figured I didn't do to bad. The motor starts, but I'm replacing spark plugs and stuff tomorrow.

1973 Aztec

Dont really know if we are supposed to advertise in this forum but I have a wonderful 73' Aztec for sale. I pay attention to this forum for tech help and I thought there may be someone who could appreciate this boat on here. The boat has a 302 V8, 188hp and a Merc 888 outdrive, newer bimini top and seats, snap in/out floor carpet, a new battery, and a double axle trailer with newer tires and the lights work. Boat needs nothing and is in turn key condition. $1250 989-316-1187 -Bryan

Hi Dave,
I see all your posts are from a while back. I was wondering if you still have your IMP Aztec you were refurbishing? I recently bought a 1971 IMP Aztec and am interested in connecting with other IMP boat owners. You sounded like an enthusiastic supporter with the club you were starting. I'd like to hear from you.
