High speed boat particulars

I am an undergraduate in naval architecture and ocean engineering. My project is about designing and analysing surface piercing propellers. Now I need the particulars of two similar high speed boats with speed more than 35 knots where I can try to design SPP's for them. Kindly help me in getting all particulars(including coefficients) of any known high speed boats. It would be great if any one has some inputs of designing an SPP too.
Prasanna.

Your project you do it .....
Your tutor should have given you some pointers on how to proceed with the project.
That way when you have finished it will be your degree not mine

Why dont you design one yourself in freeship and then you will get all the drag parameters etc ...base it on a us torpedo boat ..your tutor must be useless

You can use Dingo's excellent planing boat program on Excell spreadsheet for a start. You can download it from this forum. I know he has updated it. There is also a software for Arneson surface drive but you won't learn anything from it if you don't know what you are doing. You will just be punching keys. I have the Arneson surface drive program and it works great.

I don't have SPP design but some inputs have appeared in this forum before.

Search Otto Ranchi and Baekmo posts as they have posted SPP regression lines.

Dingo's program is basically a savitkys method on planing hull with a fixed drive. Arneson or SPP is a variable thrust angle device. So apply zero for the rudder and the drive shaft and assign a trust line for a fully immersed SPP then run the program. Apply another thrust line with the SPP half submerged or so and you will get another trim and resistance prediction. You will come close to hull performance prediction but not propeller design. Drop Dingo a PM. Maybe he has another approach.

With the Arneson drive program, It is a modified Savitskys program. The program just tells you to input a type 8, 16, or 32 drive type, immersion in percent and gives you the EHP you need and other propulsion parameters but it is not an SPP design. You need to use a propeller design book. Maybe "Marine Propellers and Propulsion" by John Carlton.

Yep, he'll be on staff developing the next cruise ship or passenger ferry soon . . . I'll keep an eye on the papers, for what seems to be an absorbent number of "incidents" in this general area of the world.
