Gel Coat Damage-Need Help

Hello,
Well, yesterday I pulled my boat for the season. I was using the public docks & ramp in RI. One of the docks rub rails had a piece of material missing with a long nail head sticking out. Of course I caught it on the port side and it gouged the side if my boat about 5/16 wide x 10" long down to the fiberglass mesh material.

What is the best method of repair. The hull is deep blue. I'm thinking about contacting the boat builder to get the color agent. I'm not sure if this is something that can be filled with colored gel paste and sanded etc...or if it needs to be sprayed?

Thank you in advance for your help.
