Surprised that no one has mentioned that GB's are really more of a coastal cruiser than a passagemaker. There are lots of boats for sale out there that'd likely do a better job without having to do a bunch of fooling around with the engines, which would be expensive.

Oh, I can be exceedingly flexible about all of those things when serious amounts of hard earned cash is involved. Delivery anywhere in the SW Pacific is fine. Just somewhere the 'island hops' are not much more than 1200nm or so to get home.

And one of the pleasures of retirement is time. I can come chill for a bit in US or Canada until I get the nod. I cant see a cradle being a showstopper.

I'll be coastal or island hopping in weather windows, AFTER i get it home... Don't want or need a passage-maker then, unless it was Tad's PL 56. But new build doesn't make sense in today's market.

Saw some boats in Anacortes this afternoon, heading to Seattle tomorrow.

You are absolutely right. I'm just getting a feel for things, looking at some different types. Its a family ski trip, but I wangled a couple of boat days into it. Part of the tradeoff is a stopover at the Seattle Premium Outlet sprawl .....

Some serious desktop research, maybe an offer subject to survey and sea trial, and then another trip is the plan. I haven't looked too closely at DeFever's yet.

BTW for the GB's I'm quite happy with a pair of Lehman 120's. I just baulk a bit at the old JD 6404's, which I suspect could be expensive to maintain back in Brisbane.
