| Fuel Filler Hose servicing Hello, I have reason to believe that my fuel filler hose may be compromised, and would like to remove it, check it out, and then reinstall either the same or a new hose (depending on the condition of the current one). Can anyone provide any tips? I have access to the spot under the floorboards where the filler hose attaches to the fuel tank, and can undo that hose clamp. Does the deck plate just come off by unscrewing it? Are there any safety measures to consider, such as the tank being full or empty? Thanks, this applies to a 1988 Wellcraft 210 Classic Inboard/Outboard with Mercruiser V8 Alpha Engine. |

| There should be a way for you to access the upper end of the hose where it connects with the fill fitting. It may be as simple as taking the fitting off. It varies from boat to boat and depends on the fitting you have. whatever you do be very careful. This may be ajob for a professional. In any case, after you change the hose have the fuel system pressure tested.

| When you replace the hose , be sare to make (or maintain) an electrical connection from the deck fill to the tank. Simply using a long tinned flat braided flex wire under the ends of the hose , before slipping it in place will usually do the trick. The connection is necessary to remove static electric. The fuel fill hose should be rated for fuel service , not just water hose. FF |

| Fill hose should be USCG Type A1 or A2. Don't skimp on this. It is fire resistant and alcohol resistant. Plus if this hose is not the correct type you'll never pass a survey.
