| Deciding on a Boat I live in Melbourne Australia and am contemplating buying one of the following boats: - Stejcraft Islander (v6) - Whittley 550 Mercruiser (v4) - Four Winns 205 Sundowner My preference is the Four Winns 205 Sundowner but I am concerned about the warranty issues associated with buying an imported boat. I am interested in your recommendations. Lucy |

| Lucy Whittley reputedly make an OK boat... Theres a lot of local manufacturers (Hains et al) - why are you looking to import? Even tho our Pacific peso is gaining ground against the greenback, there is stiill a 30% loss in exchange rate, PLUS the cost of getting it here then as you've already realised -the warranty issue as well. IMHO, it probably just isn't worth it. Have you exhausted the local manufacturers for what you want? How big a boat - and what do you intend to use it for? Where will you store it? How important is resale value to you? Happy to help but you need to give us data to work with. Cheers from t' other side of the pizza in sandgroper land! ![]() |
