| Custom Private Label Engiens I noticed this today in the Trade Only E-News Today. I know one or two of the ski boat manufacturers use custom branded engines, but I'm surprised it's worth it to customize in terms of easy parts replacement for owners, etc. Quote:
Packard Boat Co. Inc., the Louisville, Ky.-based manufacturer of American runabouts, said today it is planning to use McLaren Performance Technologies in Livonia, Mich., to help it privately label engines for the entire Packard line.
Packard president Kevin R. Orr says the idea of privately labeling the engines came about as a result of discussions with boat enthusiasts, McLaren CEO Steve Rossi and Packard car buffs. Orr says the company is currently discussing private labeling with a number of major inboard manufacturers.
McLaren will “help further develop the power source to suit the specific needs of Packard, and dress the engines accordingly,” McLaren CEO Rossi said in a statement
“Simply put, a Packard boat should have a Packard engine,” Orr said.
Packard Boat Co. markets a line of 21- and 27-foot runabout boats.
McLaren Performance Technologies provides full-service design, development, fabrication, manufacturing, testing, validation, and certification of automotive and racing powertrains and related components.
