Boyancy chambers

    Hi there.
    I have noticed water draining from each of the two chambers on my fiber glass boat.
    They are supposed to be sealed and just full of air.
    The drain plugs are there to allow any condensation to escape while boat is parked up on trailer.
    OK. I have found the source of these leaks (cracks along seam on cockpit floor) and fixed with epoxy and cloth.
    My problem now is, how can I be sure that the insides of the chambers are dry as I cannot imagine too much drying taking place from just a 1/2 inch drain hole!
    I am considering fitting deck plates to allow the drying and also, if I fit large enough ones, allow me to see inside for inspection.
    Your thoughts and views would be most appreciated.

    Fit inspection ports. That way you'll be able to see what the state of things is in there, and for added re-assurance you can put some buoyancy material in there. Even something as simple as empty plastic bottles.

    To prevent condensation, you need an air flow, not just a hole.

    Install (as previously mentioned) a deck plate at the top of the chamber, so air can flow through the drain and out the deck plate. The plate comes in various sizes, some big enough you can reach in, use it for storage or just to clean it out.
