BENT SHIFT SHAFT INTERMEDIATE Mercruiser

I bent the shift shaft intermediate on my 1989 mercruiser alpha one drive while putting the outdrive back on.

I found a new part but I am afraid I will need to tear into the outdrive to replace.

Anyone have any experience with this ?

Is it difficuilt to replace this intermediate shaft?

It's made from brass

It just pulls off. Make sure it aligns in the same spline as before.
