| 4.7m Fishing boat G'day i am new to this site and got on to it with one idea - I am looking for a really nice 4.7m Fising boat design to build myself. I want the lot - planing, good for family but somthing that i can get out and do some serious fishing and play. want tiler steer and i am very capable at the build process any suggestions welcome. but be prepared if i don't like i will more than likely let you know. i did see a 6.7m Aussie Sports fisher, which i liked on this site (possibly look at something like that and shrink the plans). Any help would be well recieved. |

| Well there are plenty of plans in the following sites covering your rough criteria. More information regarding range, no. of passengers, sea conditions etc... would help the experienced members offer more specific advice. http://www.selway-fisher.com/ https://www.boatdesigns.com/departments.asp?dept=2 http://bateau.com/categories.php?cat=29 This is the one i choose for myself http://bateau.com/proddetail.php?prod=OD16 There are the few i know there are others out there as well ... Good luck ....

| Hello, I can't see a link to the 6.7m Aussie Sports fisher you have mentioned. Is there a particular reason for asking exactly 4.7 meters length? Maybe you could check out these plans for fishing boats from FAO: http://www.fao.org/docrep/007/y5649e/y5649e00.htm . There are some neat documentation and building instructions there. The smallest one is 5.2 meters, but it could be modified to some extent. Cheers |

| thanks guys to be more specific i am looking for a boat similar to the one in the pic above to build out of foam/ Glass Looking to use a 40hp outboard and at most have 4 people in it (family) I live on the east coast of Aus and spend a lot of time in esturaries but my dad has a 40' timber boat which we take up to the great barrier reef and i want to be able to tow this boat behind and have enough freeboard to get out in the ocean ie island hop and use the 40' as a base. definetly want tiler steer- l liked the FAO 5.2 but a little to round in the back end and not sure about the freeboard. but i think your getting the jist of what i am looking for. thanks again |
