I just finished converting a 3.0 to a 5.0. You have to modify the automotive engine to a marine application. The gaskets and camshaft and carb are very different than an automotive application. Also you have to use a marine ignition and a sealed starter and alternator. You are probably better to locate a marine 5.7 complete and fit it in . The mounting positions are different and the final drive ratio may need to be changed, or you will have to play with different props to find the right setup. Good Luck.
