1976 26 release by custom marine

im looking at really neat boat and need more info.its 26 foot by 8 wide.powered by twin 302 fords with direct drive inboards. has side by side consoles and was built in savanna georgia.what i do know it is a fishing boat and only 18 of these boats were ever built and builders name was john peters. release is still business building fighting chairs, rocket lanchers.cannot get any info on the hull, what it was pulled of of. its built heavy like a cary with really good hardware. stainless steel engine beds bolted to the stringers,stainless exhaust coming off the risers,24 deadrise and very steep bow with flat deck.has a small cuddy with teak floors.right hand steering with console on the left. both cover the engines and are molded into the forward bulkhead, all molded in heavy woven roving. gelcoat finish. any info would be great

I took care of one of these way back when. It was a beautiful boat and well made, by the same folks who made Release fighting chairs and rocket launchers, I think.
However, a sea trial is a must. It's small, heavy for its size, a little wet and had one very odd habit...... when you put the helm hard over, she'd lean over to that side but wouldn't actually change direction! To get her to turn, you had to pull back on the "inside" throttle, then ease that engine rpm back up to whatever turn radius you wanted to maintain. Might have been because this one had a tall tower, but it was a little scary in traffic!

your right bout being built good, at least it looks tuff as nails. standing back from it it has the lines of the 32 cary except for the flat deck. by chance might you know what mold this hull was pulled from or what it might be copied from. it has 200 gallons of fuel tanks. it needs alot of work but it is all there. i think the inboards would make it a little slower than ob or io,s but what a cool lookin ride, would look fast goin slow lol
