Will this gearbox with with my 1991 60hp Yamaha?

Hi,

OK, I've got a 60 HP 2 stroke yamaha outboard, as per the photo of the serial number. Approx from 1991. Serial 60FE0 6H2 L 404386

The gearbox has recently been given alot of trouble, (no reverse, very rough transition in forward).

I found a lower unit from a 1985/86 two stroke 60hp yamaha on ebay here.

Will the new gearbox fit?

Thanks

Conor

well you have some great pictures of the replacement so why not just knock your own gearbox off and compare the details....as yours is long shaft ensure the new one is not short shaft as the drive shaft does not come out easy( ie pull out) you would have to dismantle the gearbox and fit your drive shaft and gear change bits ( or cut and shut/weld the short shaft drive shaft ....

have you checked the linkage adjustment on your old box
