tohatsu 4hp problems with shear pin replacement

Hi hope someone can help. Got a tohatsu 4hp outboard at the weekend the shear pin snapped. Had probelms with the retaining nut coming off, welded it self on with dirt. Anyway stripped the gearing out so as to get it in the vice.
have started to replace everything and now there seems to be about 2mm play in the prop spindle in and out so now the prop catches on the outboard casing just below the water intake. has anyone had this problem and do you know how to fix.

cheers ken
