Starter for 78 Johnson 85 Hp.

My boat sat for so long the starter corroded inside.
The Brush block broke when I took it apart.
Anybody have a used one for me?
Or a place I can get parts for that old thing?

I expect you have tried your local outlets? And I guess you have looked on line for a supplier? Have you tried E Bay? There may be a supplier who specializes in the older models and parts on there. If you do visit E Bay then try a variety of key word searches and categories.

You might try:

David R. Spurgeon
8621 Hillridge Drive
Midwest City, OK
73141-2229

He has tons of old Evinrude and Johnson parts and is a very nice and knowledgeable fellow. Good luck!

also try JWBMarine - somewhere in Texas. Here is the email address. This guy worked on J / E engines for the last 31 years and very knowledgeable.
