I'm sorry, I did not read the complaint properly. I agree with Jack 100% here. Run your tank as empty as you dare and start fresh.

Of course in theory (that ALWAYS works in real life!) topping up should make no difference to the oil/fuel ratio IF it is mixed exactly each time.

I'd personally be more concerned with moisture in the tank running it low regularly. (Most common way for water in fuel is condensation let in to the tank from a breather. If the tank is not kept full the condensation ends up in the fuel....... I think I'll risk the extra smoke instead and watch the mix ratio.

Also topping up isn't as much of an issue in boats as the old and new fuel are very quickly mixed (and of course any moisture)

But of course this all depends to a fair extent on where you live and temperature variatons etc.

Water is a killer for little engines. If you forget to close the air bleed screw on those little 2.5 3.5 and get water in,- it wont run.

Water is like treacle to those tiny jets. So many people complain about those small motors but they are just the simplest of engines posible.
